Jonuss Rai entered the clearing, the Jedi of Odan-Urr already present
awaiting his instruction. His experience
in both the light and dark sides of the Force made him the ideal candidate to
give these lectures. His comrades would
benefit greatly from his words.
Or so he hoped.
The former Son of Sadow took his place in front of those assembled,
sitting cross-legged on a rectangular rug that had been placed there for him. He took a moment to center himself, and then
began his lesson.
“There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge. There is no passion, there is serenity. There is no chaos, there is harmony. There is no death, there is the Force.” He opened his eyes and looked at
everyone. “These are the 5 precepts of
the Jedi Code. Learn them and what they
mean and you will begin to understand the light.
There is no emotion; there is peace: This is the focus of all meditations
and interactions. It keeps a Jedi's mind focused on acting without being
reckless.
There is no ignorance; there is knowledge: Knowledge is the greatest
power in the universe. Without knowledge and understanding of that knowledge, a
Jedi is quick to fear and is easily led down the path of the Dark Side. A Jedi
should take every effort to continue learning every day.
There is no passion; there is serenity: Strongly connected to the first
precept, this is a reminder to remain calm while dealing with every situation.
There is no chaos; there is harmony: The universe is united. The Force
flows through every living being binding us all together. Nothing is random.
There is no death; there is the Force: Death is just another step on
the path. When a Jedi dies, they become one with the universal Force. Death
isn't an end, so a Jedi should never fear it.”
The Sentinel closed his eyes again and began meditating, the others
followed suit. He spoke the words of the
Jedi Code, the others repeated and added to the chorus. Light filled the clearing and a sense of
harmony and peace fell upon them all.
After a time, Jonuss opened his eyes again. Bowing his head he concluded the lesson. “Take what I have given you, meditate on it,
and become closer with the light.” He stood,
his joints popping from stiffness. “May
the Force be with you all.” He bowed
again and dismissed his class.
